To call it irony only detracts from the tragedy.
One of the pillars of feminism has been free and unfettered access to abortion: ‘a woman’s right to choose’; ‘a woman’s control over her reproductive health’; ‘a woman’s control over her own body’.
Yet amid the outworkings of this carnage is the reality that in many parts of the world healthy baby girls are far more often aborted than boys, simply for being female. The philosophy also extends to the time after birth, with post-birth infanticide of baby girls also a routine matter.
Doubtless the response will be that this is simply a further result of oppressive patriarchal policy coercing women.
This contention will be made because of the inability to see that where the value of human life has been removed, or is determined arbitrarily, such practices will be justified on the matter of subjective preference or basic need.

The Economist cover story “Gendercide – What Happened to 100 Million Baby Girls?”
Albert Mohler offers comment “The Scandal of Gendercide — War on Baby Girls”.

Please be aware that both The Economist’s article and Mohler’s commentary, which quotes from the article, both contain graphic accounts that will distress.
