You might know that the sentence “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.” uses every letter of the alphabet. But did you also know that the sentence “Pack my box with five dozen liquor jugs” uses every letter of the alphabet and uses the least letters to do so!
This and other pieces of information of dubious value are collected on dumbfacts.com. I don’t know if, as it claims, that it is the most massive list of useless information on the internet, but all the information is quite useless. Unless you create various written and spoken messages that call for small illustrative bites of information.
Apparently it takes 3,000 cows to supply the NFL with enough leather for a year’s supply of footballs; Gene Simmons, of the shock-rock group Kiss, earned a B.A. in education and speaks four languages; and the amount of money American Airlines saved in 1987 by eliminating one olive from each salad served in first class was $40,000.
In addition, there are links to the other websites in the “Dumb Network”. There are some ads on the site, but nothing unsavoury that I saw. None of the ‘facts’ seem to go in crude areas either, but I haven’t read every page on the site.
So, if you’re the type of person who gets stuck in light conversation perhaps you’ll be able to turn things around by noting that the Bible is the most shoplifted book in the United States.
Or not.
