The Oxford Australia blog selects ‘schmick up’ (verb: to smarten (something) up; to renovate (something); to improve (something) superficially) as its word for the month of November.
The post reports that the adjective schmick has undergone the contemporary fashion of being verbed and nouned, in this case with the addition of ‘up’ (thankfully we’ve been spared ‘ise’).
It’s going in the next edition of the Australian National Dictionary, so it’s real.
