The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of South Australia commenced tonight with a late change to intended proceedings.
Toward the end of last week the moderator-elect Rev Chris ten Broeke indicated his inability to serve as moderator of this Assembly. Too late to conduct a full process of electing another moderator, after consulting on process and checking among the commissioners the Clerk of Assembly moved tonight that I be elected to serve another term as moderator.
The Assembly supported that nomination.
We shared an uplifting evening of worship tinged by the fact it was not how we expected it to be, yet expressing our trust in the purposes of God.
Moderator-General of the Presbyterian Church of Australia, David Cook preached a challenging sermon applying principles from Psalm 78 and Ephesians 6 about passing on the precious truth of the Gospel of God’s redemptive love in Jesus to generations to come.
I resisted subjecting David to another selfie.
Can’t say he enjoyed having this photo taken much more though.
Oh, the sacrifices.
Anyway, tomorrow there’s a meeting to chair.
