We’re watching The West Wing again.
It’s been a while.
I don’t know why its been so long.

The first time I discovered it was during Season Four when it was showing late on Saturdays on Channel 2 (ABC Australia – back when they only had one channel).
It wouldn’t take me long to realise there was a lot better material that had already been shown that I needed to catch up with.
That involved buying DVDs (and waiting for seasons to be released).
(That sounds like prehistory these days. It’s only twenty years ago.)

The first three – (maybe four) seasons are the best written television drama.
The dialogue is wonderful. The plots give them space to shine.
The characters interact as an ensemble, even if the ascendency of Martin Sheen may not have been the original plan.
But it’s the USA. The President was always going to end up the lead.

We’ve romped through season one, and season two is the best of them all.
