God Moves In A Mysterious Way and That I May Keep Your Statutes, LORD (Psalm 119:33-40) are the songs of preparation.
Worship begins with Sola (By Your Word Alone), our call to worship and prayer of adoration and confession. We’re thankful that we have access to God alone because of Jesus and that nothing else brings us into His presence except Jesus.
Far And Near (Say It Loud), the Apostles’ Creed and Now To The King Of Heaven will be our confession of faith and assurance.
From God’s Word, John 5:19-46 speaks of Jesus’ authority and the witnesses to his identity.
Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise is our song of response.
Reading Hebrews 9:1-10 we’ll then go on discovering the answer to the question ‘How is Jesus the mediator of a better covenant?’ The writer shows how the old covenant continued to emphasise the distance between God and humanity, only offering a tantalising glimpse that the barrier between them would be done away with one day. Though hearts may have yearned to draw close to God, consciences were constantly convicted regarding their inability. We who have experienced the barrier’s removal through Christ have to ensure that we don’t unwittingly rebuild barriers between his grace and us.
After a word of testimony and thanks from Jeroen Zwijnenburg on behalf of his family, we’ll be led in our pastoral prayers, give our tithes and offerings, then conclude our worship singing What A Wonderful Change.
