Kids Holiday Muster has wrapped for another year.
Even though the weather was very hot (which meant we needed to vary the program with no outside time at all, and that, as the week went on, people were getting pretty tired and run down generally) every thing went well.
We had about thirty-five registrations with an average attendance of twenty-eight or so.
Talks on Jonah (from Sandy Galea’s excellent Kidswise), fun games, interesting crafts, engaging songs and yummy morning teas were supported by a team of teenage volunteers working with the kids and team of slightly older volunteers handling catering. (And others helped with distribution of publicity materials.)
Everyone pitches in and does whatever needs to be done.
All our attendees were a pleasure to have along and we’d look forward to them all being back next year when we’re going to visit the book of Romans and have a farm theme.
Finally, if I wasn’t her father, I’d be able, as pastor, to make a huge fuss of Rachel Ware, who, as a fifteen year old, organised: the entire week, including the overall program and all the administration; each day’s teaching time program; the selection of the craft items we made and running craft time; the games for teaching time and the games for game time (running lots of those too); making a video for the wrap up night; taking her dad shopping to buy all the resources we needed; and did so without tantrums or meltdowns, confidently handling her father when he did have tantrums and meltdowns.
She is amazing, and I couldn’t be prouder.
Well look at that.
I made a fuss anyway.
