When the medical professionals are seeing what they didn’t expect to see, (and seeing it happen so quickly), you can say something very special is happening.
And so it goes for Jozua.
Over the last seven days everything continues to improve.
No speech yet, but we trust that in God’s time that will come.

Here’s his mum’s update from today:

Hi everyone, another day full of blessings! Jozua is now formally under the rehab team and is having various therapy sessions daily. His nasogastric tube is out and he is allowed to go for a ride outside in his wheelchair. He is remembering most events from the previous days and the occupational therapists will be officially testing him this afternoon regarding his short-term memory. He is forming words with his mouth and is putting our lip-reading skills to the test. He can write sentences, can read Dutch comics and is very cheeky! Thank you everyone for your ongoing prayers. As Jesus said to the Samaritan woman: “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?”(John 11:40). We have indeed seen God’s glory. In the things Jozua has done but also in the things he has not done. Please continue to pray for courage for Jozua to acknowledge that Jesus is his Lord and healer and for his speech to return so he can give God the glory. Diana

And some reflections on the situation from his dad over the weekend:

Jozua has just proven that he is recovering very fast for the injury he has sustained. I am amazed … at how normal conventions are just skipped. As the Creator could create men out of nothing, why should it be beyond expectations that this same God can also fix a brain that on an MRI scan looked as beyond repair? As He created the world in 6 days, why should we be surprised that this brain damage repairs are happening so quickly? It should not surprise us, while it still amazes us! (Can recommend to read C.S. Lewis book ‘Miracles’ – God just skipping steps – as He can!) But then, we are dealing with an amazing God! He can do whatever we ask. He has indicated that we can ask Him anything in faith, so we listen to His word, trust in Him, and pray. He will give at His time. He takes away at His time. We are so very thankful Jozua was saved from death, and that God is adding all these mercies to it. These weeks have really been very reassuring, even the days when we were not sure if Jozua would survive His presence was so amazingly clear. We pray they have been reassuring for all of those living this time with us, before God. In all these days God has shown us that He does not leave us or forsake us. He has promised that to all His children, and you all need to know and be reminded of this assurance regularly. That’s why He sent the Messiah – God with us! The question left is – what mercies will we see tomorrow, here in the Women’s and Children’s hospital, or in the heart of one person who grows closer to his or her Creator, in your or my heart, or in someone who acknowledges God the Creator as his or her God and Saviour for the first time. Let’s pray for these miracles every day so that His Name will be praised louder and louder.
