We start the year with a passage in Ecclesiastes which shows us the great lesson we can learn from time and eternity.
How Excellent In All The Earth (Psalm 8:1-9) and Give Thanks are the songs of preparation.
Worship begins with When Morning Gilds The Skies.
Our prayer of adoration and confession will recognise God as Lord of time and space and express our sorrow for those times when we try to usurp His will with our own desires.
Come And Fill Our Homes (The Family Prayer Song), Heidelberg Catechism Q&A1, and May The Grace Of Christ Our Saviour are the affirmation of faith and assurance.
In God’s Word we begin reading through John’s gospel, this week chapter 1 verses 1-18, which contain John’s amazing prologue about the eternal word who became flesh.
Remembering the centrality of God’s word in worship and life through another year we’ll sing Speak, O Lord.
Reading from Ecclesiastes 3:1-15 we’ll then consider what it means to know that everything in life will change though we continue to yearn for the eternal and lasting. There is only one who is eternal and everlasting and our hearts will always be restless in our attempts to create our own versions of eternity until we find our rest in him.
After the pastoral prayer, which will include thanksgiving for the progress in healing which Jozua has experienced, we’ll give our tithes and offerings then conclude worship singing O Lord, My God (How Great Thou Art).
