The first Christians were perplexed by a world which seemed to resistant to Jesus’ claim that all authority under heaven and on earth was His. They were tempted to believe that other spiritual beings who were not incarnate in flesh could secure their lives and destinies. The writer to the Hebrews pastorally reassures the Christians that not only will Jesus Christ have dominion over all creation in the age to come, but that it has always be God’s plan for a human being to exercise that rule.

Meekness And Majesty and O God To Your Inheritance (Psalm 79) are the songs of preparation with Jesus Is The Name We Honour beginning worship.
Our prayer of approach and confession will remember the wonder of human creation, our fall from the created state, and God’s gracious provision of a Saviour who is everything humanity were created to be.
And Can It Be That I Should Gain, The Apostles’ Creed and May The Grace Of Christ Our Saviour will be our confessions of faith.
Jeremiah 39:1-18 unfolds the account of the fall of Jerusalem at the hands of Babylon and the fates of the citizenry. Jeremiah himself is spared.
In thanks and expectation for God’s Word we’ll sing Break Now The Bread Of Life, then hear Hebrews 2:1-9.
Verses 5-9 unfold a biblical theological account of God’s purpose for humanity, and how the Lord Jesus Christ is the only fitting ruler of God’s creation for eternity. Not only that, but He is also the one who enables fallen humanity to participate in that creation purpose.
After pastoral prayer, we’ll give our tithes and offerings then conclude worship singing Your Glorious Cause, O God (Let Your Kingdom Come).
