Steve Martin, besides being a comedic actor, is an accomplished player of the banjo. On Love Has Come For You, he is joined by Edie Brickell (lead singer of The New Bohemians), who has provided lyrics and vocals for Martin’s compositions.
The result is an enjoyable album which highlights Martin’s skill and showcases Brickell’s talent, as she seemingly effortlessly evokes folk/country stylings which would delight fans of singers like Alison Krauss or Gillian Welch.
It’s available at all the usual places, but I downloaded my copy from Martin and Brickell’s web store for $9AU, a bargain, I think.
Amazingly, their record company has posted this youtube, which features the whole album.
