What happens when the answer to your question brings something worse than the problem you were originally worried about?
155 years ago, during June 1858, Presbyterian Worship began in Mount Gambier. Preparing for worship today we’ll sing Now Thank We All Our God, and two versions of Psalm 96: Sing Unto The Lord A New Song, and Ascribe To The LORD.
Our prayer of adoration and confession will remember God’s revelation of Himself as a faithful covenant keeper, and give thanks for His love that is constant in our failings and transgressions.
O Father Most Holy will be our song of testimony, followed by The Apostles’ Creed and Glory Be To God The Father.
Jeremiah 25:15-38 continues our progressive reading with its revelation of the imagery of God’s judgement in the cup of wrath. In thanks that Jesus has consumed that cup on our behalf we’ll praise God for the revelation of His Word singing Speak, O Lord.
Reading from Habakkuk 1:12-2:1, we’ll consider how the prophet receives an answer to his question in verses 2-4 which instead of bringing peace only serves to intensify his feelings of confusion and heartache. In doing so Habukkuk demonstrates faith, seeks to clarify his concerns and then waits on God for another reply.
After our prayers of thanksgiving, we’ll give our tithes and offerings and then conclude worship singing O The Deep, Deep Love Of Jesus.
