When is a talent not a talent?
When a talent is not an ability, but an opportunity.
And the way we feel about those opportunities is a true indicator of the our preparedness for Jesus’ return.
Tomorrow we’ll prepare for worship learning the Sovereign Grace Music song Behold Our God, and commence it by singing Let The Nations Tremble (Psalm 99)
Our prayer of approach and confession will focus on God’s gift of Jesus, He whose yoke is easy, and whose burden is light, admitting there are times when we treat that easy yoke and light burden as if it is a great imposition instead of freedom.
Our song of response and assurance is Softly And Tenderly, after which we affirm our faith with The Apostles’ Creed and Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow.
The continuing reading from Jeremiah reaches chapter 14:1-12 this week, where Judah suffers with drought and famine, and God will no longer hear the pleas of His people.
We’ll respond by singing of the most amazing wonder of God, that He who knows our hearts loves us, with the song Indescribable.
Reading from Matthew 25:14-30, the parable of the talents, we continue to hear Jesus’ teaching about the Kingdom, His return and judgment. We’ll see that the talents which are spoken of are not abilities, but opportunities, and that judgment is not based on productivity but motive of heart.
Approaching the Lord’s Table we’ll sing Alas And Did My Saviour Bleed and then share communion together.
Alan Clarkson will lead us on our prayers of thanksgiving and for the needs of others, after which we’ll give our tithes and offerings.
Our worship will conclude with the forward looking song of praise to the triune God, Glory Of Glories.
Come spread His praises throughout all the earth.
