When we worry about the end of our world we focus on when and how, but those are not the keys to being ready for the eternal kingdom.
Instead Jesus wants us to focus on not being misled so we won’t be afraid. In the words of a public campaign from ten years ago He wants us to be alert, but not alarmed.
There’s enough in the world to frighten us, the expectation of Jesus return should be a source of peace and strength.
Tomorrow at mgpc we return to the Matthew’s Gospel as Jesus commences what is called the Olivet Discourse.
Preparing for worship we’ll hear new song Indescribable again and then commence with Praise To The Lord, The Almighty.
Our prayer of adoration and confession will focus on God’s eternal purpose of love and redemption and the times we neglect to rest in that love. The Family Prayer Song is our corporate expression of trust and Ephesians 2:2-10 and May The Grace Of Christ Our Saviour our confessions of faith.
In God’s word, Jeremiah 11 warns us about breaking covenant with God and singing You Sons Of The Gods (Psalm 29) is a response of praise to the God who is faithful to His covenant promises.
Turning to Matthew 24, we can learn that what concerns us about the end of the age is not what concerns Jesus. Jesus actually warns us away from those who would try to cultivate those wrong concerns in us; and instead bids us focus on that which will bring true peace as we are confronted by the end of the world.
Singing Bread Of The World In Mercy Broken, we’ll share The Lord’s Supper together and then be led in prayers by Jeroen Zwijnenburg.
Finally our offerings will be received and then we’ll conclude worship singing Go Forth.
