David makes his presence felt at mgpc tomorrow.
After his introduction last week, the accounts of David’s first encounter with Saul, his first recorded words in Scripture, and his memorable encounter with Goliath are our focus.
We’ll prepare by singing Psalm 22 and Christ Is Made The Sure Foundation, songs which focus on our Saviour’s passion and resurrection.
Prayer will confess our often diminished view of God and thankfulness for His faithfulness. We’ll sing If Christ Be God in response, affirming our response of total dedication to Jesus.
The lectio-continua reading from Jeremiah will also contrast God’s faithfulness in spite of the unfaithfulness of His people, one of our responses will be the Family Prayer Song, which begins with the words Come And Fill Our Homes With Your Presence.
I’ll take a section of 1 Samuel 16:14 – 17:58, probably verses 17-32 to read and then we’ll survey the content of this section in which the Holy Spirit indwelt David wages war in the face of a faithlessness which is present both inside and outside of Israel. God wins a famous victory.
After the sermon Roy and Monette Fromberg will be admitted to membership and then, with the singing of Behold The Lamb we’ll partake communion as a church family.
Jeroen Zwijnenburg will lead our corporate prayer and we’ll conclude our worship with the forward looking assurance of the hymn The Sands Of Time Are Sinking.
