Tomorrow our worship at mgpc will explore the theme of eternal investments as we consider the concluding section of 1 Timothy.
As we prepare for worship we’ll sing Give Thanks and Blessed Be The Man (Psalm 1), praising God for His redemptive work, the relationship we have with Him, and the fruit of the kingdom in our lives.
In prayer we’ll confess our transgressions in pursuing our own desires and that which does not have eternal value.
Our song of testimony and assurance is Marvelous Grace Of Our Loving Lord, the refrain of which invokes us to praise God for a grace which is greater than all our sin.
Our corporate affirmation of faith is the Apostles’ Creed and Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow.
After having completed our consecutive reading from Isaiah we continue into the first chapter of Jeremiah, which brings us Jeremiah’s call, we’ll respond by singing Jesus Loves Me, a simple appreciation of the Bible’s testimony of God’s saving love.
1 Timothy 6:11-21 refers briefly back to the material that precedes it and continues on to conclude Paul’s letter to Timothy with an exhortation to eternal investments. There’s the matter of fleeing in order to pursue, a fight worth fighting, an extraordinary charge to consider and then some final investment advice, all of which underline that sound belief and kingdom living are inextricably bound together.
Our prayers will give thanks for the return of Jeroen and myself from Zimbabwe, uphold a number of folk who have been seriously ill, and also commit our church trip to Para Hills in two weeks time to God for His blessing.
The closing song is My Jesus, I Love You, which expresses the single focus which our King is for the lives of all those in His Kingdom, both here and in eternity.
