Tomorrow at mgpc 1 Timothy 5:1-16 will show us how the Gospel which brings us into God’s family permeates the nature of our interactions as God’s family.
Preparation in song focuses on the kingdom and the King, the Church and her Saviour. The Church’s One Foundation; How Great Is Our God; and a setting of Psalm 45 in which our hearts are stirred by the noble theme of God’s greatness.
After responding to God’s call to worship in prayer our song of confession and assurance will be the chorus It’s Your blood that cleanses me, after which we’ll affirm our common faith with the Apostles’ Creed and sing Now to Him Who loved us.
Our lectio continua reading from Isaiah 63 and 64 invokes the wonder of God’s mercy and compassion.
The song These are the days of Elijah also reminds us of the age of grace in which we live.
Reading from 1 Timothy 5:1-16, the sermon will consider the Family Values of the church.
In a practical consideration of inter generational relationships we’ll also examine how the lives of the most powerless and those responsible for caring for them should always demonstrate absolute Gospel integrity.
Alan Fox will lead our pastoral prayers which will include a special setting apart of Gary Ware and Jeroen Zwinenberg for our trip to Zimbabwe (on which we depart later in the day), and after giving our offerings we’ll close our worship singing O for a thousand tongues to sing.
