Tomorrow at mgpc we’ll consider the Spirit inspired warning about the danger of departing from the faith contained in 1 Timothy 4:1-5 and learn the best defence to ensure a continuing relationship as part of God’s Kingdom.
A focus on God’s faithfulness and generosity toward us is in order, and we’ll prepare for worship singing Fairest Lord Jesus, Here I am to worship, and the stirring words drawn from Psalm 46, God is our strength and refuge.
Responding to God’s call to worship in prayer, our approach and confession will continue with New song in my heart and a corporate affirmation of God’s good purpose toward His people in words from Romans 8.
Our continuing reading from Isaiah 62 will remind us of God’s determination to perfect His people, a further encouragement to recognise His holy character in all His deeds and gifts. In part response and part expectation of that which is to come we’ll sing Revive us, O Lord (Father, we come to You now) continuing to express faith the good revelation of Himself and His salvation which God has given us in the Scriptures.
Reading from 1 Timothy 4:1-5, and seeking to understand it will call us to think deeply about what is the substance of the Christian faith and why not eating certain foods or having a certain sexual ethic could be said to bring about departure from it. And we’ll need to know why thanksgiving and prayer are the best plan of attack to ensure we remain in the faith.
Graham Hamilton will lead us in pastoral prayers, and there are many who are quite ill. We’re also drawing near to my and Jeroen Zwijnenburg’s trip to Zimbabwe in a few short weeks, as well as our church trip to Para Hills church in Adelaide.
Our worship will close in praise and thanksgiving for God’s gift of salvation in Christ with the song Come, Christians, Join To Sing.
