Tomorrow mgpc will worship with a theme arising from 1 Timothy 3:14-16, from which we discern the link between the mystery of God’s saving grace and our mission to be the Spirit empowered visible physical expression of this truth to the world.
As we begin our time together we’ll give expression to our wonder at that mystery with the songs My Lord, What Love Is This (Amazing Love) and I To The Hills Will Lift My Eyes (Psalm 121).
In response to the call to worship our opening prayer will state our praise of the gracious God and confess our trust in His Saviour, the Lord Jesus. Our song of testimony will be Jesus Loves Me, This I Know, after which we will continue to testify our faith in the words of the Apostles’ Creed and sing the trinitarian affirmation Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow.
Then we will turn to God’s Word. Isaiah 61 introduces us to a song sung by Isaiah which anticipates the coming of the Lord Jesus; we reflect on the call of Jesus with the song Softly And Tenderly; after which we consider 1 Timothy 3:14-16. Over recent weeks we’ve been learning about the conduct of God’s family, and today we learn why as we firstly learn about the mystery of Godliness and then consider the link between the wondrous facts of the Gospel and the demonstration of the Gospel’s power on earth, which is the church.
As our response to God’s Word we’ll sing a new song, the Getty/Townend composition Behold The Lamb (Communion Song), after which we’ll participate at the Lord’s Table. As we further express our response to the Scriptures Jeroen Zwinenburg will lead us in our pastoral prayer, we’ll give our offerings and then conclude our worship singing As You Go.
