We’ve been using Morris Chapman’s The Family Prayer Song (first line: Come And Fill Our Homes With Your Presence) at mgpc for years now.
It’s a simple but earnest expression of the theme expressed by Joshua 24:15.
I think it’s an example of a song which respects the contextual meaning of Joshua’s affirmation before the people of Israel.
The lyrics:
1.
Come and fill our homes with Your presence;
You alone are worthy of our reverence.
Chorus:
As for me and my house,
We will serve the Lord.
As for me and my house,
We will serve the Lord.
As for me and my house,
We will serve the Lord.
We will serve the Lord.
2.
Lord we vow to live holy,
Bowing our knees to You only.
Chorus:
Bridge
Staying together, praying together.
Any storm we can weather, trusting in the God’s Word.
We need each other, fathers and mothers,
Sisters and brothers, in harmony and love.
Chorus
Verse 2 repeat.
Chorus.
We will serve the Lord.
Morris Chapman.
