… on June 22 1997, the Presbytery of Flinders ordained me into the ministry of the Word and Sacraments and inducted me into the pastoral Charge of Mordialloc.
At that stage Margaret and I knew just two people who attended the service that day, Jared and Cassie Hood. (At my setting apart from mgpc we knew no one at all.)
The last fifteen years have been filled with a lot of friendships and encouragements in two states (and beyond) and particularly in two local congregations.
To God be the glory.

Someone recently asked me about my plans for the future.
I replied saying something to the effect that I’d never planned to be where I am presently.
Simply put, I’m not smart enough to have planned this.
Which makes me think of a quote I read yesterday in which someone noted with thanksgiving that God had not granted every silly prayer they’d ever prayed with fervent desire.
What a mess my life would be if that was the case.

My aging memory creaks and groans, but I’m pretty sure that the man who preached at that service of commissioning and setting apart was the Reverend Ian Touzel, due to his having been the most recently installed pastor in the Presbytery prior to me.
I wonder what ever happened to him…
I trust he’ll forgive me if I can’t remember the precise content of his sermon that day.
It was all a bit of a blur.
Perhaps the text came from 1 Timothy.
Which book is the subject of the next sermon series for mgpc.

Hi Gary. Thanks be to God for continuing to sustain you in pastoral ministry. Tonight at Drouin, we’re ordaining another man, Heath Easton, into the pastoral ministry. He continues to serve alongside me here in the parish. God bless.

That’s great Mark, I trust all of you will have a great night.
Every blessing on Heath as he partners with you all in your mission and ministry.
