Revive Us (Father, We Come To You Now) is a song by Rob Smith released by EMU Music.
I keep returning to it because the lyrics flow well, and express themes that can be used in various parts of worship. The opening line ‘Father, we come to you now’ suits the beginning of worship; ‘Help us repent of our ways’ embraces confession, the chorus ‘break through our chains by the power of Your Word’ before the sermon, and, today ‘Cause us to walk in your ways, Boldly proclaiming your praise, Until you come’ was our song of expectation and going out to the world.
The verse/chorus structure and melody are very singable, enabling the congregation to vocalise strongly and with feeling.
Traditionally minded musicians will find it an easy play.
Sadly I can’t find an embeddable file to post here, so you’ll just have to go to EMU’s website where you can hear the whole song and consider their purchasing options.
The lyrics.
1.
Father we come to you now
Trusting again in your power
Humble and heal us this hour
In Jesus’ name
Help us repent of our ways
Our failures in seeking your face
Open our hearts to your grace
This is our prayer
Chorus.
Revive us, O Lord
Send forth your Spirit
Unsheathe your sword
And break through our chains
By the power of your word
Revive us, revive us, revive us, O Lord
2.
Idols have captured our land
We worship the works of our hands
Lord for too long we have built
Houses on sand
Teach us to number our days
Cause us to walk in your ways
Boldly proclaiming your praise
Until you come
Chorus.
