No, I’m not moving to Montenegro.
Apparently the country of Montenegro officially possess the web suffix .me as its country code, but they’re willing to share it with anyone in the world who is not really a dot-com, dot-org, dot-gov or a dot-net.
Someone like an individual person.
A .me.
Flowing on from my contention that I’m a person and not a title I’ve secured the domain name garyware.me
WordPress.com, (wp.me) my blog host, manage the registration issues.
I don’t even leave my blog to do any of this.
I just pay the money.
Through internet magic any links to mgpcpastor.com and mgpcpastor.wordpress.com posts or the blog itself will continue to work just fine.
So will email subscriptions, twitter posts and Facebook updates.
I’m not sure what effect, if any, the move to .me will have on search engines like google finding posts here as easily as on the .com address, but most of the very modest amount of traffic here seems to come people who know me (now .me) anyway. We’ll see.
It’s not all about me, but, as an expression of my role as mgpc’s pastor this blog continues to be an expression of what .me finds interesting, instructive and amusing, and I hope you continue to find it so too.
A blessed new year to anyone who reads this.
Good news for Montenegro. Tuvalu has done well out of .tv: http://www.dailydomainer.com/2007154-tv-is-turned-on-again.html
Happy new year!
