You may have heard that Christmas Day falls on a Sunday this year.
Mount Gambier Presbyterian have been supporting PresAID, the cross-cultural development body of the Presbyterian Church of Australia with the proceeds of our Christmas Even and Christmas Day gatherings.

So, what to do this year when Christmas falls on a Sunday when many give their week by week offering?
Not make a special contribution?
Take up two offerings?
Have a special retiring offering? (Folk leave money as they depart.)
Differentiate between regular and special offerings with different envelopes?

Sounds complicated, doesn’t it?

Well, last night MGPC’s Board of Management determined to simply remit the full proceeds from the offerings collected on December 24 and 25 to PresAID.
‘Problem’ solved.
Board meetings are private, all I’ll say is that it wasn’t my idea. (I’m sorry to say)

I went home gob-smacked.
I love being pastor of mgpc.

Projects which will be supported from this year’s Christmas Appeal are:
1. Completion of Library/Lecture Room at Chasefu Theological College, Zambia, and Scholarships for Zimbabwean Students.
2. Hope For Children Home, Paundha Village, Dehradun.
3. Bible Translation In Timor Leste
