So, here’s the document which mgpc endorsed/adopted/supported last Sunday.
MGPC Ministry & Mission 2012
Hopefully it speaks for itself.
I’ve never really been a part of a church that tries to clearly state its broad ministry aims for the next year before.
Getting used to the process has been a real transition.
I added a couple of figures up wrongly in the version of this document distributed on Sunday, but I think this one adds up.
There’s a very comprehensive draft budget paper, but I won’t bore you with that. It did take a lot of work, though and I appreciate our Treasurer and the financial admin. team.
We’ve tried to articulate a large vision that depends on God’s enabling, not our current resources, for fulfillment.
We’ve tried to articulate a ‘local’, ‘national’ and ‘international’ component to our aims.
As I said yesterday we present a deficit budget as a matter of aspiration and faith.
For all that, in endorsing/adopting/supporting this document, I understand (I wasn’t there, believe it or not) that the Congregation approved a resolution that they financially support this plan without deficit.
They want to give even more than that, but, as I wrote yesterday, that just means we need to increase our kingdom investments.
