Turns out Sufjan Stevens is the most popular musician I’d never heard of.
Anyway, Songs For Christmas the compilation of his five Christmas themed EPs, is available for US$12 at his bandcamp site.
That’s 42 tracks for $12.
If you want to own just one Christmas album, this pretty much fills the bill.
The recordings are ‘home’ stylings, not overly produced, but spare and simple allowing the material to speak for itself. Lots of traditional songs, with some originals thrown in.
(You can also purchase the physical version at Asthmatic Kitty. I’m trying to resist, but don’t know if I’ll hold out.)
