Here I Am To Worship seems to be holding up alright. We sang it at mgpc tonight and I don’t overuse it, once or twice a year is enough.
It could probably go back into our morning services again.
The bridge refrain ‘I’ll never know how much it cost / To see my sin upon that cross’ is a lovely couplet.
Written by Tim Hughes in 1999, the following line from the current wikipedia entry for the song is giving me great amusement:‘This song has been re-written in a different, modern version, by Chris Tomlin. He has kept the basic outline and lyrics, but has edited it to be more modern and up-to-date.’ [bwah-ha-ha-ha]
Here are the lyrics. We sing a pretty basic repeat-less arrangement.
1.
Light of the world
You stepped down into darkness
Opened my eyes, Let me see
Beauty that made this heart adore you
Hope of a life spent with you
Chorus.
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that you’re my God
You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
2.
King of all days
So highly exalted
Glorious in heaven above
Humbly you came to the earth you created
All for love’s sake became poor
Chorus.
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that you’re my God
You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me
Bridge
I’ll never know how much it cost
To see my sin upon that cross
(repeat)
Chorus.
Here I am to worship
Here I am to bow down
Here I am to say that you’re my God
You’re altogether lovely
Altogether worthy
Altogether wonderful to me

Here’s a basic rendition by Michael W Smith (probably from one of his ‘Worship’ albums, I think.)
