A few blogs I’ve read have mentioned that, with the conclusion of his expository sermon series on Mark’s Gospel, John MacArthur has now preached every verse in the New Testament, a task which has taken the whole of his forty-three year ministry at Grace Community Church.
The tagline of his ministry is ‘Unleashing God’s Truth One Verse At A Time.’ He meant it.
That is an astonishing effort.
What do you do after that?
One blogger muses: If I were John MacArthur…
A blogger with an association with Grace comments on the situation: ‘1969 – 2011’.
Here’s a recent interview with MacArthur which anticipates the event.
I think that John does good things but “unleashing Grace” is a turn of phrase that strikes me as passing strange. I also think his tendency towards pre-mil dispensationalist systemics isn’t the most helpful.
Well, I haven’t availed myself of his commentaries on Revelation yet, nor was his second volume on Romans much help. But I do appreciate his interaction with the Greek text and the very straight forward way he presents his sermons. Interesting that he and Iain Murray seem to be kindred spirits.
