Two more day’s worth of observations from the recently concluded Anglican Church Of Australia 2010 General Synod, posted by Sandy Grant on The Sola Panel.
Good insights into the process by proposed legislation can be modified in ‘huddle’ rather than the more adversarial form of motion, amendment or counter motion; varying reasons why Anglicans would have concerns about more formal unity with a denomination such as the Uniting Church; attempts to have the Sydney diocese financially contribute toward works they don’t support; and, notably, Grant’s own motion, eventually unanimously upheld, which commends the Federal Government to address problem gambling and its destructive social impact.
