The Southern Baptist Churches are having some issues due to the rise of pastors of Calvinist convictions. ‘Memo: How to smoke out a Calvinistic pastor in your church’.
The Founders Journal blog has been given some material that is being circulated amongst churches in the connection that is meant to help churches identify such Calvinist tendencies so they do not fall prey to such leadership.
On the post is a page of ‘Reformed Red Flags’, a page of ‘Theological differences between Traditional Southern Baptist and Extreme Calvinists’ and finally a pledge that prospective pastors should sign that would enable a church to separate themselves from any pastor who arrived at Calvinist convictions.
Some of the younger folk in the Presbyterian Church of Australia may be surprised to know that 30 or 40 years ago Calvinist, or even Bible believing Christian pastors were viewed very negatively in some areas of our church. Praise God those days are gone.
While you may have trouble identifying some of the beliefs and actions on those documents as Calvinistic thought and practice, they do stand to encourage any of us to hold our beliefs in such a way that if anyone is offended it should stem from the offence of the Gospel, not the offence of the gospeller.

That’s very helpful. I stumbled across this ‘smoking out Calvinist pastors’ idea on another blog. (5psalt.com) and was confused as to what the actual purpose of it was. Now I know!… Now where is my ESV….?
