Here are links to two Washington Post online articles that deal with three Christians making the news for the right reasons.
“Suffering well: Faith tested by pastor’s cancer” is about Matt Chandler, founding pastor of The Village Church.
Chandler is currently undergoing radiotherapy after surgery for brain cancer.
In the terminology of John Piper, Chandler is not ‘wasting his cancer’, as this article points out. It’s early days yet, though. I pray he’ll see it through.
“Tebow’s Super Bowl ad isn’t intolerant; its critics are” concerns Tim Tebow, a rising star in American Football, having achieved as a quarterback in the college league. Tebow’s mother was urged to abort her son on medical grounds, but chose not to. Mother and son are to feature in a pro-life commercial aimed at encouraging other mothers to carry their children to term. There has been some opposition to the ad airing, with it being intolerant. Many have pointed out this opposition lacks credibility, consistency and smacks of hypocracy.
