John 4: 27-28
The disciples return from purchasing food in town, nonplussed to find Jesus talking to a local woman.
The woman goes to the town wanting to tell everyone about her talk with Jesus.
She wants to tell them the content of the talk and marvel that such a one as Jesus would talk with her.
The disciples come to Jesus wanting to guard him from talking to certain types of people.
They seem concerned that Jesus has no idea who he’s talking to, or the results that might flow from conversations with the wrong sort of people.
The woman has learned something the disciples have yet to understand.
She is overjoyed.
They are perplexed.
Such is the kingdom of heaven.
