On Facebook today two Presbyterian pastors both mentioned that tomorrow will mark the conclusion of their ministries with the local churches they’re currently serving, and that neither of them have appointments into which they’ll transition.
Apart from concern for these two brothers, one with a young family, the other with a grown family, it reminds me again of the tremendous privilege which it is to be serving a local church as pastor.
It’s easy to take that for granted, and sometimes, especially with the passing of years, for familiarity to lead to licence.
So, I pray my two colleagues will have an opportunity for further service soon.
And I pray I will continue to value the opportunity for service which is mine.
