We did use to do this with pews.
They didn’t stack so good.
Slid ’em all over out of the middle into the wings.
It was around the time we started referring to this room as the ‘chapel’ instead of the ‘sanctuary’.
(The ‘auditorium’ was a bridge too far.)

Ah yes, but if you were a lover of pews you would be sure that they had been removed to do something totally inappropriate for that venue.
