Holidays are over if you haven’t guessed.
Speaking to a colleague (from another state) last week who was also returning from holidays he mentioned how it was like putting a weight back on.
He was referring to the concern pastors have for the direction and unity of the congregation, the different spiritual states and struggles of each member and our desire for those who do not know Jesus as their saviour (both inside and outside the congregation) to come to faith.
All of that is never far away, even while we’re on holidays.
You don’t even know it’s there sometimes until you take a break.
Then when you come back, there it is again.
Because we deal in life and lives, being a pastor never gives that sense that can be defined as ‘task completed’.
I mention this because it’s there.
Here at mgpc folks pray for me, there’s a great team working together in leadership, and encouragements are everywhere.
What can you say about a church that gives you a NERF pistol on your return from vacation?
Or the little post-it notes, all on the same paper, but with different hand-writing, each one expressing a little point of appreciation and encouragement for my ministry, that just started turning up in random little places around the church where I would find them?
