Last week I got engaged in a bit of rant about the incompetance of our local televison broadcaster.
They are incapable of syncing their ad breaks with the programming that comes to them from the network. This means that you’ll abruptly depart from your program to watch an ad, missing some of the actual program.
Regional TV means less choice (unless you get reception from across the Victorian border, then it’s okay if atmospheric conditions hold up) and watching really dodgy advertisements.
But having watched a bit of TV in Sydney last week I saw an ad that I’d never seen or heard of before which had me wishing for all the world that I could watch an ad for sheep drench or see Sam Kekovitch or some calisthenics dancers spruiking our local real estate companies.
It was an appalling combination of concept and execution.

This is for my country readers, because anyone from the big cities has probably already blinded themselvs and popped their ear drums.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you EOFYS.

    ROFL!!! HAHAHA!!! Very dodgy….

  2. Just like the National Tiles ads (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZ93KG4BiWE&feature=related), being a terrible ad is their point of difference. It worked. You noticed the ad and even got other people to notice it too.

Yeah that is definitely a dodgy ad! Unfortunately they ran the same promotion last year as well, it seems that they think they have come up with a clever and witty ‘time for celebration’ in hopes they will sign up more people to Foxtel. Unfortunately for foxtel, free-to-air TV in capital cities is much better than what you get when you pay for foxtel!
